What does prayer offer to my life?
  • Daily prayer give us an opportunity to share all aspects of our lives with God.
  • Daily Prayer gives us the chance to express our gratitude for the things God Provides.
  • Daily prayer provides the platform for confessing our sin and asking for help in overcoming that sin.
  • Daily prayer is an act of worship and obedience.
  • Daily prayer is a way to acknowledge who is really in control of our lives.
A Lifestyle of Prayer

All of us long to connect with someone who can identify with our circumstances and share in our day-to-day life. Prayer is just that, a personal experience and intimate connection with our loving Heavenly Father/Mother. Jesus set the perfect example of obedience in prayer. Although His day was filled from morning to night with many pressures and responsibilities—addressing crowds, healing the sick, granting private interviews, traveling and training His disciples—Jesus made prayer a top priority. If Jesus was so dependent upon His fellowship in prayer alone with His Father/Mother, how much more should you and I spend time alone with God.
Why is Prayer important?

Quite simply, for followers of Jesus Christ, prayer is the best way to communicate with God. Prayer is the vehicle for daily dialog with the One who created us. The importance of daily communication through prayer cannot be overestimated. It is so important that it is mentioned over 252 times in Scripture.
Benefits of Prayer:
  • It provides spiritual sustenance
  • It strengthens our spiritual walk with Christ
  • It strengthens our heart
  • It brightens one’s countenance
  • It delights the soul
  • It gets rid of laziness
  • It brings on blessings
  • It cast the devil away
  • It illuminates one’s strength
  • It empowers one’s life
  • It allows us to hear God’s voice
  • It strengthens our relationship with Christ
  • It nourishes the soul
  • It draws one close to Christ

If God already knows all about me, why should I pray?

It is because God created us to have free will. God wants us to come willingly and not as robotic creations. God has given us a mind to make decisions, and the most important decision is about eternity. Even though God knows the future, we do not know the future choices we will make. It’s important to live by God’s guidance to make the right choices.

When you pray, God listens to you. When you do not pray, God feels left out of your life. “God is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9b). As you pray consistently, you are affirming the existence of God in your life. You are building your faith as you see God’s hand do God mighty work on your behalf just because you asked.

Prayer is something that we all should want to do on a daily basis. Yet for many of us Christians it can be a challenge to humble one’s self in daily prayer. Whether one is a new believer or an established one, prayer should always be considered as the best way to speak to God. Imagine not speaking to a loved one or a close friend. How long would the relationship last? Daily prayer with God is daily fellowship with our Heavenly Father/Mother. It is truly amazing that God would want to have fellowship with us at all. In fact, the Psalmist asks, “What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?" (Psalm 8:4). Daily prayer is a good way to understand this incredible truth and the marvelous privilege God has given us.
